The Great Rotary Duck Race

2011 Rotary Duck Race proceeds will benefit these agencies:

. Birth To Three
. Center for Community Counseling
. Patrick McCurdy Education Foundation
. Relief Nursery
. Willamette Family Treatment Services

Birth To Three
Duck Race funding will support 30 parenting teen families (90 parents and children) to participate in Birth To Three's Teen Parent Program, based on Make Parenting A Pleasure. This 9-month program teaches teens to manage the challenges of childrearing while caring for their own needs so they can learn to nurture their children and reduce the risks associated with abuse and neglect. The Parent Educator leads weekly parenting groups with the teen families. Teens develop supportive relationships with the other young families. Childcare and nutritious foods are provided during group meetings. Families receive home visits and weekly check-in phone calls.

Center for Community Counseling
The Center for Community Counseling believes that every child deserves to grow up in a safe, nurturing environment and that prevention is the best way to combat child abuse and neglect. The Center works diligently to eliminate the root causes of family violence and trauma by providing affordable mental health care to low income Lane County residents. Duck Race resources will enhance the Center's outreach by offering additional anger management and parenting skills classes for adults. In addition, it will fund the continuation of the agency.s pilot program in support of grandparents raising grandchildren.

Patrick McCurdy Education Foundation
The Patrick McCurdy Education Foundation's mission is to assist preschool through twelfth grade students and families by enhancing their opportunities for a brighter future and helping those who face significant obstacles realize their potential. Duck Race funding supports our Family Connection Project which is designed to assist rural families facing issues that untended are likely to lead to child neglect or abuse. We offer community education, parent education, preschool drop-in groups, resources and referrals, and guidance and counseling for families in Pleasant Hill and South Lane School Districts. Thank you for the support to build stronger families and safer communities!

Relief Nursery
Relief Nursery, Inc. is a non-profit child abuse and neglect prevention agency proven to strengthen high-risk families and keep young children safe. Nationally recognized, the Relief Nursery stops the cycle of child abuse and neglect with its blend of therapeutic early childhood services and comprehensive family support, including alcohol and drug recovery support services. Rotary Duck Race funding will support our Outreach program which provides crisis intervention response, home visits, respite childcare, parenting information, and links with substance abuse treatment, mental health services, and other needed resources. Thank you for helping protect children in our community.

Willamette Family Treatment Services
For over 20 years, Willamette Family Treatment has provided a wide range of effective adult treatment and child-centered services for families in which child abuse and substance addiction co-existed. A missing piece is a therapeutic, transitional residence when they return to the community after successfully completing residential treatment at our Women and Children's Center. Duck Race funding will allow Willamette Family to implement a 24/7 supervised Family Safe House for 20 families/42 children annually to insure child safety, provide onsite parenting education, continue access to our therapeutic Child Development Center, and enhance services that prevent child abuse and strengthen families.
